$1-million Sunderland Grant for The Hope Center

The Hope Center (Kansas City) has been given a $1-million challenge grant from the Sunderland Foundation toward the nonprofit’s Hope at the Center capital goals. The Hope Center provides asset-based programs and opportunities for sustainable growth and development where children, youth and families can flourish on Kansas City’s East Side.

Breaking Stigma, Breaking Ground Campaign Receives
$150,000 in Tax Credits

CrossWinds (Emporia, Kans.) has been awarded $150,000 in tax credits from the state of Kansas. CrossWinds provides prevention and support tools, educational resources, counseling and treatment options. Tax credits will be used to leverage gifts to the Breaking Stigma, Breaking Ground campaign to help expand treatment offerings throughout the agency’s seven-county coverage area.

VELA Education Fund Micro Grant

Phillips Fundamental Learning Center (Wichita, Kan.) is the proud recipient of the VELA Education Fund Micro Grant. The VELA Education Fund awards micro grants to entrepreneurs – students, families, educators and community members – who are innovating outside of the traditional education system. The Phillips Fundamental Learning Center is a privately-funded, educational nonprofit serving children with significant reading, writing and spelling difficulties, including those with dyslexia through identification, private education and teacher/parent education and training.
