Every dollar raised supports Open Avenues’ work to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the Northwest Arkansas region. Our programs include onsite job training and employment, life skills programming, community employment and on-the-job coaching services, high school to employment transition programming and transportation services.
Transforming Education through Literacy Builds Momentum
Fundamental Learning Center (Wichita, Kan.) continues to build momentum in its campaign to construct a new Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired facility that will house a school for children with dyslexia and a center to train other educators. The organization’s current location can only accommodate 60 students. The new facility will double that capacity. Fundamental Learning Center is a nonprofit literacy academy for children and a teacher training center using research-based programs that teach children with dyslexia and struggling readers to read, write and spell. In addition to teaching children how to read, the organization helps prepare teachers, Certified Academic Language Therapists, reading specialists and tutors, who then work with struggling readers.
