Ask Hartsook!

Do you have a tough fundraising question?
Send your questions to [email protected] and we will respond by email. Your question may be featured in a future eHartsook on Scouting.

QUESTION: Our development team members feel they've exhausted all their prospective donors. Any ideas for us?

Since your board members should be individuals of affluence and influence in the community, and because they already know about the great work you do, leverage those connections to broaden your base of support. Successful nonprofits benefit from the relationships their board members, staff and volunteers have in the community. Everyone plays a role in growing philanthropy for the organization. Engaging personal relationships is a key method of increasing both donations as well as your pool of volunteers.

But there are ways to recharge your drive for fundraising: Remember why you decided to get into the business in the first place. Visit the organization's frontline programs and ask staff for new success stories. Consider creative ways to get and stay inspired. Go here to read more.
