The Right Year to Raise More Money
Use these tips to get the year started right:
Start with the right outlook
Fundraisers can make all the difference in an organization. Therefore, your outlook and attitude matter. Wake up every day knowing you can help strengthen your organization’s programs which, in turn, can change lives for the better. Make this a year of no excuses. Find the support, tools, training and guidance needed to raise more money. You can do it.
Implement the right plan
“Raise more money” isn’t a plan. You need a comprehensive framework. Your plan should consider everything – how your special events will complement your major gifts program; an assurance that direct response plans are timed with communications and other fundraising-related activities; and so much more. Establish a timeline with benchmarks and evaluation measures; and, then, follow the plan.
Ask in the right way
Face-to-face meetings are best for soliciting major gifts. The goal is to ask the right person for right gift for the right project at the right time, so you will need to use research before developing a unique strategy for each prospective major-gift donor. When you do meet face to face, listen more than you talk, adapt and respond genuinely and treat each donor as someone who really wants to make a difference.
As a fundraiser, your leadership is critical. No excuses. Lives are waiting to be changed, and 2020 is the right year to get it right!
